Background:
Philip Lumbang began his art career as an intern for Shepard Fairey at Studio Number One. As he progressed under the direction of the artist, he rose to his current role as design assistant. Assisting on various projects under Fairey and the rest of the Studio Number One Team, Philip has developed a unique skill for illustration and fine line work. Additionally, Philip has recently begun finding an appreciation and passion for working outdoors using a suburban setting as his medium.
Show participation:
Philip had his first art show at 554 Gallery in Los Angeles in September of 2008 and quickly sold through his playful creations within the first few hours. He has since shown in various group shows at Subliminal Projects and Andeken Gallery. In between shows, he showcases his work by creating prints which he displays and sells online.
Hug Life:
Philip enjoys finding comfort in an outdoor setting. Utilizing many “found” mediums, Philip recycles lumber and various other sources by transforming them into beautiful pieces of art. Philip has decided to take this concept one step further and develop his own full gallery show by transforming an empty warehouse space into a complete gallery setting. Hug Life will focus on his favorite pastimes in life. Hug Life is all about great music, friendly faces, cheap drinks, and amazing art work.

There are now 2 rooms of doom with the newly renovated upstairs area. Past gusts at the Mountain Bar have included: Tim Sweeny, Holy Ghost, Jacque Renault, and Hercules & the Love Affair, to name a few. The location of the venue is in the original General Lee’s in Chinatown next to the famous Pagoda that the Ratpack used to hang out at in the past.
